World Attraction is very smart

World Attraction stepped up smartly from his runaway victory on debut to confirm his promise with an emphatic victory in the R200 000 TAB Listed Storm Bird Stakes at Turffontein on Classic Day.

The long-striding World Attraction stamped his class under SplashOut-sponsored Callan Murray over a trip at the lower end of his range, when he drew clear to beat market rival Gimme A Vodka (5-1) by 1,70 lengths in a time of 58,39 secs for the 1000m straight.

Lucky Fish Ambassador Mat de Kock said: "He has a beautifully actioned horse who will go over ground and 1000m is the bottom end of his range. We are very happy with how he put them to bed today. He's an exciting young horse and we have lots to look forward to."

Callan Murray added: "We didn't have much track time during the week so he was pretty fresh, above himself. But I have a lot of faith in him. He seemed a but stuck in the mud when I asked him for an effort initially, but he let down very well. He's a really smart horse."

Raced by Arun Chadha and Warne Rippon’s ASSM Racing Syndicate in partnership with Mike de Kock, Mukund Gujadhur, George Ragunan, Noelene Malherbe and the Wernars Family, the winner is a son of Drakenstein stallion One World (Captain Al) out of the five-time winning Vercingetorix mare, Major Attraction.

World Attraction was bred by Etienne Braun, Neville Cooper and Wayne Mealing, and is now a winner of 2 races from 2 starts, with the R1 million Premier Yearling Sale graduate having earned R207 813.

He was a second winner on the day for the De Kocks-Murray combination after the Gimmethegreenlight filly Detailed Forecast shed her maiden to win the first race.

Callan commented: "We changed tactics last time, I tucked her in and she ran a good second to Mr Azzie's horse. They went quick today and I was able to find cover. She was able to pick up the pieces."

Detailed Forecast was bred from the Soft Falling Rain mare, World Radar, for the Wilgerbosdrift/Mauritzfontein partnership, and owner Mary Slack, the headline sponsor of Classic Day, was on course to lead in her winner.
