Runner, 19/21 September 2026
Saturday, 19 Sep 2026

Here are Lucky Fish ambassadors Mike and Mathew de Kock’s comments for their runners at Turffontein on Saturday 19 September and Hollywoodbets Scottsville on Monday 21 September:
Turffontein:
Race 1, 1200m: “Razzpath Rebel surprised us on his debut with a good third place when we thought he’d need the experience. He has improved a bit on that. We would’ve preferred a 1450m, but he drew badly for that heat, so we’ve gone with this race where is drawn well. No good thing, but should be competitive.”
Race 2, 1450m: “Dawson’s Anvil comes off a break, in need of the outing. We’re short of grass so we thought we’d give him this race to bring him on. This will be a stepping stone for an 1800m race coming up. He is nicely drawn in a small field. We’re hoping he can run well, but whatever happens he will improve with the run.”
Race 4, 1450m: “We’re trying something different with Penny’s Choice, stepping her up in distance. From what we’ve seen at home, and the data that we take, she should enjoy the extra few hundred metres. If she can settle and save her energy, she should run a good race, though the favourite looks hard to oppose.”
Race 5, 1000m: “Fierceness was rested and gelded and is doing very well. He will be just short of his best, but did go to Turffontein for a gallop last week and put up a good piece of work. This is his first run on the bend, we’re hoping he gets a good run in transit and handles it well. On ability he could be one of our best runners on the day.”
Race 6, 1800m: “Drumnadrochit ran a cracker under a big weight in her comeback last month. There are runners with good form against her in this contest, but she is well weighted with her sex allowance. She is being prepared for the Yellowwood Handicap, about a month away, and we’re expecting a good run. Include in all bets.”
Race 7, 1800m: “Here we have Special Envoy, a laid-back horse who steps up in trip and that should be no problem for him. He raced well when he was green first time out of the Maidens, plugged on late and got into the money after losing his position halfway through the race. If he can find a nice forward spot from his draw, he should be competitive and is a definite for exotics.”
Race 8, 1450m: “Industrialstrength has his first run for the stable. He has had a nice, long build-up into this race, also went to Turffontein for a gallop last week and is not too far off peak fitness. He’s carrying a lot of weight, but if you look at the spread of the weights to the other runners, that shouldn’t be a problem. We’ll learn a lot about him and we’re looking forward to see him in on the racetrack. From what he has shown us so far, he could be involved here, so make sure to include him in your play.”
Race 9, 1450m: “Artist’s Model is looking exceptional and really flying in his work. We haven’t seen him this happy for a long time, and he’s moving well. His wide draw presents a challenge, so we’ll have to see this as a come-on run. But he should be doing good work at the end of the race and he is one to follow for the rest of this season.”
Hollywoodbets Scottsville
Race 1, 1200m: “We’re stepping out for their first career runs Sensei Of Spin, by Hawwaam and Yannis, by Malmoos. Sensei Of Spin wants a bit more ground, Yannis is a half-brother to decent sprinter Chasing Happiness, but not showing us much. They will gai from the experience, let’s see how they go.”
Race 4, 1600m: “Sparrow Man is doing well after his Maiden win, we’re very happy with him. This is his first step up, but he is a progressive sort that has shown us his ability. He should be in the firing line off a handy 53.5kg.”
Race 8, 1000m: “Exocet is in fine shape. He enjoys the course and distance, has a good chance of getting into the action.”
