Reckless Abandon - all the way
Monday, 17 Aug 2026

Reckless Abandon pinged the gates, found the lead and led from pillar to post to win his 1200m debut at Turffontein on 16 August. His stablemate Razzpath Rebel - another newcomer - ran on well into second.
The stable has not done a lot of grass work with the unraced horses recently and Mat de Kock and Callan Murray were pleasantly surprised with the way Reckless Abandoned handled his first visit to the races.
“He was sharp out of the gates and I was a bit surprised. He was a bit too keen for the first couple of strides but raced professionally for the rest of the way,” said Callan.
Mat said: “We haven’t galloped too much with where the grass is at present, so Reckless Abandon and Razzpath Rebel both have good improvement to come. Well done to Hollywood Racing and Ridgemont. We visited their amazing farm last week and it’s no wonder they breed great horses.”
Reckless Abandon is by Rafeef out of Three Hearts (USA), by Hat Trick, whose only previous runner is her first foal, Exocet (Mehmas), also a smart winner on debut for De Kock Racing in July 2025 and a winner again since.
“Three Hearts is proving her mettle. She is presently again in foal to Rafeef. We’re looking forward to the return of Exocet, there are some exciting times ahead,” said Hollywood’s Devin Heffer.
