Jan van Goyen is scratched from HWB Durban July

Jan Van Goyen was scratched on Sunday morning, 31 May, from the 2026 Hollywoodbets Durban July. This follows his unplaced run in Saturday's Daily News 2000.

Mathew de Kock commented: "It is clear now that Jan Van Goyen doesn't see out 2000m, or further for that matter, so there is no point in running him in the Durban July."

Mat said that Jan Van Goyen will be rested now. "He hasn't enjoyed a proper holiday yet and he deserves it, so we'll put him away until spring, and bring him back to the shorter distances over which he has proven to be so effective."
