Runner comments, HWB Greyville

Curious Girl has her last chance to qualify for the 2026 Hollywoodbets Durban July in Saturday’s Grade 3 Lucky Fish Winter Fillies Stakes over 2400m at Hollywoodbets Greyville.

Lucky Fish ambassador Mike de Kock commented on behalf of the De Kock Racing partnership: “Curious Girl is doing very well. She needed her last run just a bit but as a young filly against older males, that was a good showing. There is turnaround at the weights with a couple of other fillies in this race, which makes this quite competitive given that she’s not given her full weight-for-age allowance. She carries the penalty for her Grade 2 Derby win, which is fair enough.

“But she’s in a good place and has no stamina doubts unlike perhaps a few of her rivals. On the race ratings she is rated four pounds inferior so will have to improve a little on her form, but she has actually improved since her last start so we’re confident of a good run.”

The stable’s other runner is Buddy Boy, who drops to 1200m in Race 2. “He is coming back in trip and gets blinkers. He is showing a lot of speed lately and works well on the sand. This was the only suitable race for now. He has an eachway chance.”
