Weekend runner previews

Mike and  Mathew de Kock will saddle runners at both this weekend’s meetings. The Lucky Fish ambassadors’ comments are below:

Hollywoodbets Greyville, Saturday 13 June:

Race 5, 1600m: “Two runners who have won at the course and distance. Officer In Command is in good form at home and has a senior jockey on this time. We’re expecting a good run, include him in your play. Tyrconnell incurred an eye injury when he won here on 24 April. He had a little rest, doing well but might just need the run.”

Turffontein, Sunday 14 June:

Race 1, 1000m: “Beautiful Rosie (AUS) is a first-timer by Maurice and she is quite hot and uptight, like some of the progeny of Maurice tend to be. She hasn’t shown us a great deal thus far, and we’re not sure what her ideal distance will be. Hoping she will behave on the day and surprise us.”

Race 3, 1000m: “Apparition is a newcomer by Gimmethegreenlight out of a mare who has produced two winners from two runners. She’s doing a lot right, shows some gate speed. Hopefully there is another gear there. But she also hasn’t given us top drawer work, and is likely to improve with this run.”

Race 5, 1400m: “We were somewhat disappointed with Sutter’s Mill’s first two runs, we thought he was better than that. He takes on a competitive field, but he is in nice form at home and well-drawn. We’ll be looking for an improved run.”

Race 7, 1160m: “Sosoru is our best runner this weekend by some way. He’s is in great shape at home.  He surprisingly hung in last time, and if he does that from his outside gate this time it will be hard for him to win. He’s only done it once and hopefully won’t do it again. If he runs nice and straight, he will be very competitive. Trombolines races after a rest, will need the run and come on from it.”
