Champions Day runner comments

Turffontein Saturday, 4 April:
Race 2, Wilgerbosdrift SA Fillies Nursery, 1160m
“The Nursery is always a competitive race, but Good Day Sunshine seems to have taken a lot of benefit from her first experience, a race she won with promise. We think she has ability and is up to the challenge.”
Race 4, Wilgerbosdrift Caradoc Gold Cup, 2850m:
“Alladin’s Lamp came to us in good order. We’ve put as much work into him as we could over the last few weeks. He seems a straight forward type of horse. He hasn’t raced beyond 2400m, but he finished his last 2400m race off well, which suggests he will enjoy the extra. We’ll see how he goes, must have a chance.”
Race 5, Hawaii Stakes, 1400m:
“One Eye On Vegas has found just one or two three-year-olds to beat him in the Gauteng features this season, but he has been right up there with them. Tin Pan Alley’s win over older horses in the Horse Chestnut is a yardstick that gives us some confidence. One Eye On Vegas is a 1400-1600m specialist and this race should be right up his alley. He’s a big runner.”
Race 9, TAB SA Derby, 2450m:
“Curious Girl went back to Summerveld after her lovely win in the Oaks Trial, and she returns to us on Friday, 3 April. She’s done really well in Durban, we elected to run her in the Derby against the colts. It’s a bit of an unknown, of course, but she looks to have a realistic chance, and with the ratings she is better suited. Hopefully she travels up well on Friday, if she does and gives her best, she could give them a good shake-up.”
Race 10, Wilgerbosdrift Bridget Oppenheimer SA Oaks, 2450m:
“Drumnadrochit looks well held on paper by Hazy Dazy and a few others, but she’s been running over trips that have been far too short. The mile and 1800m races were stepping stones for the Oaks. This, we believe, is her right trip, and it’s time for her to put her hand up. She has a good gate and should run well, include her in your bigger play.”
