Runner comments for HWB Greyville, Saturday

Mike and Mathew de Kock send out a beautifully-bred two-year-old colt on WSB Guineas Day at Hollywoodbets Greyville.
Scots Wae Hae is a son of Malmoos out of Saltire, by Var. He’s a half-brother to older top division sprinter Lion Rampart and current classic prospect Give It Laldy (both by One World), who also race for his owners, Hollywood Racing.
Mike said Scots Wae Hae is a promising sort, one he hopes to see, “running hard at them late” in Race 3 over 1000m. “He is by a Triple Crown stallion so I’m quite surprised that he is showing us some speed at home. He is not at his best or fittest for this race. He’s about 85% there, but he looks like a horse with a serious upside.
“This won’t be Scots Wae Hae’s best trip. He will probably be outpaced, but we do expect him to be competitive if they go hard early. If he’s got class, he’s got to have a bit of speed. This is an exercise to see what we have in this colt, and we look forward to see him run.”
One Eye On Vegas takes his place for the Lucky Fish ambassadors in Race 7, the WSB Guineas, where his versatility and consistency at high level gives him a fighting chance. Mike commented: “He is obviously under pressure at the ratings, but that is on paper. He has some pretty good form around the favourite, Tin Pan Alley. But the three-year-old ratings are very much up for debate. I don’t believe Tin Pan Alley is anywhere near a 128, and One Eye On Vegas is not a 107. It’s all up for interpretation, and the race may provide a few answers.”
