Aladdin's Lamp: We are happy with our 'July' ticket!

Aladdin's Lamp made it into the final 18 for the 2026 R10-million Grade 1 Hollywoodbets Durban July when the field was announced at a ceremony on Tuesday, and the stable is delighted with a chance to compete in South Africa's flagship race this year.

Mathew de Kock commented: “We are excited, especially for Jayson and Preshalin Murugasa, who will be having their first July runner.

“We are very happy with Aladdin’s Lamp and his progress. He has a genuine chance in this handicap. He has lifted his game at home and we’ll be putting the finishing touches on him ahead of the big day.

“He is drawn 18, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing, sometimes it’s not the worst place to be, out of the scrum. Calvin will have to work some magic but we’re not unhappy, it’s great to be in the race and looking forward to a great day.”
